UDUPI THERMAL POWER PROJECT
The Udupi Power Corporation Ltd, Karnataka, India an imported coal-based thermal power project, is being set up at a cost of Rs 43,420 million through a mix of debt and equity from a consortium of 14 banks and financial institutions led by the Power Finance Corporation Ltd. This is the first Independent Power Project in the country to operate on imported coal and also awarded a “Mega Project” status.
The project has obtained all clearances from various departments of both the Central Government and the State Government. While 90 per cent of the power will be supplied to Karnataka, the balance will be supplied to Punjab, for which necessary Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) have been made with the five Escoms/Discoms of Karnataka and Punjab State Electricity Boards respectively. Karnataka Escoms have provided a three-tier payment security consisting of Letter of Credit, Escrow and State Government guarantee.
This project is owned and constructed by M/s Lanco Infratech Limited one of the Lanco Infratech Ltd, one of India’s topmost business conglomerates with the best engineering brains of the country. We, Nig & Rich are proud to be associated with this esteemed “Mega Project” right from inception. We have the privilege of being the first contractor to enter this site and have whole heartedly supported this project even during the most difficult initial phases despite of dominant repression from the locals and the local bodies. This journey of faith has continued right from the start which includes works like Jungle Cutting, Survey and Fencing, Site Grading works, Construction of Junction Towers, Coal Jetty, Boiler Foundations, Workshops, Warehouses, Storage sheds, Transfer Towers, Tippler house, Stacker Reclaimers, Silos, Stock piles construction of roads etc., and today we stand tall with the total worth of the executed works amounting the tune of INR 50 Crores in three years and around 25 Crores worth works in hand presently.

- Construction of the Ash Dyke Lagoon.
- Construction of the Stock Pile Extension.
- Construction of the Coal Settling Pond.
- Construction of the Service Building.
- Floor Grouting works for the filter house.
- Silo works for external CHP at New Mangalore Port.
- Construction of the Concrete Road for External CHP at New Mangalore Port.
- Construction and Erection of the Service Water Line for the External CHP at NMPT.
