ISPRL Mangalore Cavern Project

ISPRL MANGALORE CAVERN PROJECT FOR STRATEGIC STORAGE OF CRUDE OIL:

The Government of India has proposed to construct underground rock cavern storage of imported crude oil at Mangalore based on the detailed feasibility report prepared by Engineers India Limited in alliance with Geostock Engineers, France. This storage will be used as strategic reserves for the country during emergencies/disruption of supplies and this project is the only second of its kind in the country, the first one being set up in Vizag.

The Government of India has set up a Special Purpose Vehicle-Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL) - a wholly owned subsidiary under Oil India Development Board (OIDB) to implement, maintain and operate the strategic storage on behalf of the Government. Engineers India Limited is appointed as the Project Management Consultants for the project.

SKE&C, a 60 Billion dollar Korean enterprise having a vast and rich experience in the construction of such caverns has tied up with the Indian allies M/s Karam Chand Thapar (B) Ltd. for the execution of this project for a worth of INR 403 Crores.

Nig & Rich Infratech are the subcontractors to the JV for the execution of this prestigious project of strategic importance to the country. We have played a very vital role right since inception by providing all backup support to the JV in liasoning with the local /government bodies along with execution backup for implementing the various works related to preliminary setup of the site and presently working for the water curtain gallery and the main cavern works.
